Why am I getting two types of bills from Waternet? Do I have to pay both of these?
You may receive 2 types of bills: 1 for tap water and 1 for water authority tax. That’s because we are not only a tap water supplier. We also levy taxes for the regional water authority Amstel, Gooi en Vecht.
The area where we supply tap water differs from the area where we levy water authority taxes. They overlap in Amsterdam. Please view our different service areas.
Water authority tax
Water authority tax is levied per address. We send the assessment to the person who has lived at that particular address the longest.
Tap water
Tap water is charged per address. Until recently, many people paid for their tap water via their landlord/lessor. He or she would then pay Waternet. As per the 1st of April 2017, everyone pays Waternet directly.
