Frozen water pipe? This is what you can do

Good to know: This concerns the pipes outside your home. You need to maintain the pipes inside your home yourself. Do you believe that your pipes are frozen? You can try the following things:

1. Check all taps in your home

Check to see if water is coming out of all the taps in your home. Such as the taps in your kitchen or bathroom.

• Does water come out of some taps? Then the issue is inside your home. In that case, contact the owner. Your housing association, for instance. They can defrost your pipes. Are you the homeowner? Then call a plumber. In case of severe frost, pipes close to the outside wall can freeze.
• Is no water coming out of your pipes at all? Then go to step two.

2. Ask your neighbours if they do have water

Do your neighbours have water? Then your pipes may be frozen. In that case, contact the owner of your home. Your housing association, for instance. They can defrost your pipes. Are you the homeowner? Then go on to step three.

Do you neighbours also have no water? Then the issue may be outside your home. Check the map to see if there is a disruption in the area. If your problem is on the map, we will solve the problem as soon as possible.

3. Check your spigot

Is there a spigot in your house and can you reach it? Check to see whether water comes out of it. This spigot is usually located near the front door: in the meter closet or under a hatch. Sometimes it is located in your cellar.

• Is water coming out of it? In that case, call a plumber.
• Is no water coming out of it? Please report the problem to us.
